My eyes get weary going through each new post finding the positive input from fans for the upcoming season because there are so many whiny, negative comments
to sift through first......
Let's keep this one going with suggestions --------- not criticisms----------of how to improve the Mudbugs.....on the ice and community involvement suggestions. |

Good idea.....
Mr Scott says in his email that he has a couple of legal pads of ideas for intermission and promotional ideas. I love the sound of that. I haven't been in the BC area enough to know....do they use players in TV spots for charity? Our local humane society and the like said if we could get a fan fave or two to do spots wearing a jersey and id themselves in the ad doing a positive statement for the charity they could get the airtime free along with the camera crew to film it. Our owners never took advantage of that offer....opting instead to sell the team's name to the anti-smoking campaign. Seems there was money paid to celebs to be spokesman after the tobacco settlement. So from there out the owners refused to allow a player to do an ad with a team logo for free.
But the use of the players for a charity spot promotes the team and gives the team free air time on local radio and tv! good luck with this thread hockeenut....seriously

The bugs used to do some sponsorship of the American Diabetes Association...........one game a year they would sell little bears, autographed by the players
for a cost of 10 bucks to raise money----------that has not been around for a few years. As for TV ads...I have seen none but it is a great idea and a great
way to get the "brand" out there.
Thanks for the positive comment !!! |

In the fall if C-tel does the canned food drive, time permitting, have a few players accompany such donations to the NWLA Food Bank AND stick around for a few
to pack some boxes going out to seniors etc.
If they do the teddy bear toss and toy drive have the players autograph some of the stuffed animals and accompany the toys to the warehouse SA warehouse on Hollywood and fill some orders for toys 4 tots. PODS was also a big help with both of these last time. I know these suggestions are all player demanding but what better way to get the team name out there than through player/community sponsorship. What they did in the park/school in Central Park last spring was AWESOME and received several tv/paper write ups. |

I'm still clinging to my suggestion of a $5 HS student ticket.....make this cheaper than going to the movies....and the hockey games can be a cool place to
hang with friends.....and all the while you are building a new fan base.......

I suggest 5 dollar upper deck seats on weekend games.

A friend of mine is a special ed teacher at Youree Drive and several of the guys have gone out there just to visit the kids and ALWAYS did it without a second
thought-Scotty too! The kids just loved it and many of them started coming to the games. I know we have never done a kids day-why not?

Great idea about the $5 upper deck tickets! The suggestions about the food drive and toy drive are also great and are already being planned. |

The reason given for why we don't have kid's day is because of state testing dates. Since it is much later this year, maybe the superintendents will
be more acceptable. Ray has the new testing dates.
If anyone who reads the message board works in any of the schools in Bossier or Caddo would contact me at joseseaman@att.net, there are a couple of us working on setting up times for the players to visit the schools. Scott asked us to do this earlier but with things in limbo, we are just now gettng on it. Does not have to be a teacher. |

For any of you who are teachers or work in the school system, a couple of years ago I requested that a couple of the Bugs go and read to some of the classes at
the school that my daughter taught in. Scotty was more than happy to send some of the guys and the kids thought it was great !

I remember a few years ago there was a contest in our school. Which ever "class" sold the most tics to a game got to have b'fast with some of
the players. Needless to say quite a few were sold.

Oh.....so you also need to get out that subscription to the AARP magazine.
You will enjoy the benefits of that and the Metamucil. I now yield the joke floor to that other Quinquagenarian, McKay.....tha bum. He will undoubtedly be crueler than me.....seeing as he is younger and his mind has not rotted yet.

Yes, I see that now.....I am not called a village idiot (if I read that other post correctly ).....I simply play the part.
Crusty......miles away.....so you must be a young Quadragenarian? I would say you lucky dawg.....but you have yet to taste life as a the beneficiary of all these wonderful perks.
I find myself only weeks away from the half-way point in my life-journey as a Quinquagenarian. And if I couldn't copy and paste, I could never spell either of those terms. word.
