Moving to Rio Rancho was the downfall of this organization. Even though just a few miles as the crow flies, it is ions away from the downtown and heavily populated area of the city. Rio was started a few years ago with the dot-com'ers---brand new homes, fairly affluent residents---and grew at a scorching pace. I understand in theory why Global wanted an arena there, they certainly had nothing---but it took hockey out of the mainsteam for most of the season ticket holders. I have lots of friends there, and they told me when the thing was built that it WAS the beginnning of the end. Very few were willing to drive the distance. I sure hate it for them. I will miss going to the Sandia mountains and Acoma.
