EXPANSION DRAFT
WHEN IS IT? HOW DOES IT WORK? WHAT PLAYERS HAVE TO BE IN IT? WHO WILL PROBABLY BE TAKEN BY THE RUSH FROM US? |

We are only gonna have four players coming back to choose from. Brass, Basile, Lighter, and Kenny. I don't think any of them will be taken from us.
Probably won't fit their mold, too old by CHL hockey standards. J.D. would make a nice fit. Gonna be another year of rebuilding for Muscutt.

anyone who was on the roster can be put on the draft list. Let's say Pegs was going to retire and had already taken a job and had left town. He could go on the draft list. It is not players comming back-it is players that were on the roster. If Fairbarn told Scott he would not be back to play for him-guess who could go on that list. To be honest-they all under-performed in the playoffs for whatever reason they want to cry about. and those crying about coach being too hard on the guys will be the same ones defending him when the team starts slow next year-just like they were this year. I hope Scotty goes out and signs 8 knuckle dragging-pound your face in just because it is fun-run you over just to see the look on your face-goons and 8 guys that can shoot the puck at something other that the opposing goalies crest (unless said shot knocks the goalie back about 5 feet) and 2 goalies that punch anyone who scores on them. We might not win games, but hell at least it would be entertaining. Seriously-I hope next years team has the pride and heart to compete every night-injured or sick. Can you imagine Gordy Howe saying he was a scratch because he had and in-grown toenail or a headache?

I stand corrected on the "draft" deal. I didn't realize it was on the roster. Heck, I hope they sign the ones that are gone! On to next season,
is it October yet? How about announcing some signings, eh??????

thats usually the case...definetly ones who have other plans or vets who even the rush know would not report....we have had a few taken from us...but overall
we haven't had it too bad.....

Aikens has already signed in Europe so he will be one the players left unprotected, In the past I think only 4 players from each team had to be made available
to the draft

A somewhat related question: Are "exit interviews" of the players done the end of every season, like they were this season? I'm sure that's where alot of early planning for stuff like this has already been done for next season.

really is a shame that some of the players elected not to return. Aikens-Cooper-Ori-Pegs-Smitty-Zirnis would all have been nice to see back on the ice. would not shock me to see some new faces in town that make us forget the old ones, and will probably see a few of the "old" faces in burgers gear next year.

Only if the Burgers trade for their rights OGR.
Makes one wonder, why everyone is worried about players not returning when they couldn't accomplish anything in the post season? If we need size and toughness as so many have stated, why the concern over the small (or guys that play small) skill guys not returning? |

I knew that FC--should have mentioen that in my post.
Skill vs size? need some of both-a David Oliver type in my own opinion (or Dale Henry or Trevor). I am not real worried about what Scott brings in for the most part. I think this years team just ran into a hot Tx team and they under-achieved. Injuries-attitude-whatever the case may be. Not saying the heart was not there, but the intensity "seemed" to be missing at inoportune times. Over-motivated? Hard-arse coach? Injuries? Partying? Figured we could take them? Combination of all of the above or a mixture there-of? Need to find the right mixture of regular season success and post-season success. This one and done ain't fun for none of us (fans-players-coaches-staff-owners--hell probably even the bus driver).
