Janitor Posts: 28 (03/17/08 21:58:26) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts Report Post	i hate discussions when someone is saying the same thing but i cant seem t o say it right......Od your right...start a bit later we started labor day......but get rid of all the teacher needs a day off days. like i said they already go to school 58 days less than we did ......the idea of airconditioning was to go longer school years and provide more education. But since then they have four extra weeks of somesort of breaks. tell ya what.......teachers get three mths more breaks than the average worker. prolly getting paid more. God i love the teachers....specially the se........never mind but they really dont know how easy it is now from our times. maybe thats why the teachers back then were like old and wrinkled.

Rookie Posts: 610 (03/17/08 23:58:19) Rookie Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts Report Post	i agree with ev... i'm 20 and was raised by my grandparents who are 70-75 yrs old so they raised me like ev is talkin about no x box no nintendo during the summer i was outside in a garden with my grandpa working during the winter i was outside in the winter garden working. when i wasn't in the garden guess what i was playing tackles football and loosening teeth as ev would say. did i hate it then? hellz ya... so i hate it now? Nope. made me not scared to work for a living. Do i miss the playing outside in the hot august summers OH YEAH! considering i do Heating and Air Conditioning work now lol kinda ironic? would rather be outside playing football or something thne in a 140 degree attic but hey i like working and i have my grandparents to thank for that. Love ya Nana and Papa/ Mom and Dad.... they adopted me when i was 4

You guys are sort of like veterans - and are appreeciated. It's the folks that are "in charge" and setting the calendar who have their collective heads up their collective .... !!! I make up my opinions from facts and reasoning, and not to suit any body but myself. 4th Liner Posts: 12757 (03/18/08 06:01:54) 4th Liner Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts Report Post	there is no real answer to the problem.....you start later...then you'll be taking semester exams after the christmas break which some say is not good....football does not set the calender for schools....football has its own schedule regardless of school start time. and really you'll find that september is just as hot as august. trust me...after 27 years of marching band...I know!! So should we wait and start in Oct?? Ev.....where did you go to school? we have been on 180 day school calender since I started school in 1963. we haven't cut the year short. although it does vary from state to state. "teacher needs a day off" days???? you mean days when teachers have mendated state inservice, additional training, or computing grades for 150 plus students.....don't think I ever had a "teacher needs a day off" day.....I must be in the wrong state. But my point is that you added three weeks of school when the heating/cooling bills are at their highest and taken away time when the weather is likely to be moderate (Thanksgiving week and Spring Break). You're going to have to run the A/C at max for those three weeks in August - no two ways about it. Whereas the heating/cooling requirements for November & March are likely (albeit not necessarily) much less expensive. And yes football has its own schedule - but football doesn't happen without students there to participate or watch. Shorten the football schedule too (HERESY!) I make up my opinions from facts and reasoning, and not to suit any body but myself. From what i was told from a few teachers i know, the teachers in bossier parish vote on the school schedule every year.
