My opinion, please be careful of my little feelings and dont upset me if you disagree.

He is the owner of the team, not my priest. If he chooses not to say the word "suck" that is his decision. If I choose to or choose to allow my child to say the word, it's my decision. Just because you are the owner of the team doesnt mean you can force your morality on me and my family.

Well, I started out reading this thread and thought there were a lot a good ideas in the first few posts... then it kinda turned negative (like most threads

. ) I think some are taking Tommy Scott's comment a little too personal. I think he was just stating "his" opinion about a chant. I don't think he realistically thought he could stop it... however, I do like some of the other ideas and definitely feel the Jumbotron would have to be part of getting some "new" chants started. I never really liked the slow "Let's go Mudbugs" cheer. I remember one time that they had a faster more upbeat "Go Bugs Go" using the Jumbotron, but just did it one or two games and that was it. Lots of creative stuff here and I think it could really catch on... just like the "Good Goalie-Bad Goalie" cheer did just a year or two ago. It can be done, beersnbugs.. didn't y'all start that one?

I have heard several people say that they would not bring their children to the hockey game again b/c of the you suck chant or the kid said you suck etc

do not sell any more beer
no more dance or cheer squads performing
no more rap music
no more fighting
no more Tequilla Tim (promotes drinking)
And know what else--I get offended when the dork in front of me won't remove his hat for the National Anthem, because he has 2 beers in his hand and is too busy talking. Then the s.o.b. gets up while puck is in play-takes down drink and food orders (all while standing there) and gets mad at me when I ask him to sit down.

I don't think Tommy is trying to tell us what we can and can't say. I have explained to him my opinion and want to let you guys know that never has a chant/cheer gotten so much attention...c'mon, it's a hockey game. It is not church and it is not a hospital zone! Make some NOISE!! Lots of noise.........most of what attracts more fans and the compliments of first-timers to the games (even on church night at the CTC) is the electricity and excitement of the 'Bugs fans cheering and yelling in unison. I would like more of us to learn more of our chants/cheers ... not on the JumboTron but by word of mouth. Don't watch the wannabee in 101 and get off sync....let's all get IN sync and chant/cheer together. If you don't want to say ' s u c k' ...improvise. I HATE it when it's QUIET! I have to have noise!! I don't want to hear the ref talking to the opposing players about what kind of pizza they are going to order after the game. MAKE LOTS OF NOISE!! If nothing else, celebrate the fact that we have MUDBUGS HOCKEY in our lives again!

Maybe some compromise can be reached... so let's start the Rock 'n Roll part II first time ... Sieve! You Suck !! (pointing at opposing goalie) second time .... 'Bugs !! You Rock !! (pointing at our bench) ... alternating each phrase.. Makes at least half of the folks happy, eh?

I appreciate the Scott 'Group' for being Mudbugs fans, wanting to improve the product on the ice and giving us our Mudbugs Hockey back. I think we need to help in any way we can. I am going to print some of what he sent me in an e-mail.

Just wanted to let you know that I'm not trying to ruin anyone's fun and I think some people are making a mountain out of a molehill. I NEVER said people couldn't say "you suck". I simply said that I would LIKE to see something different. I can't control what people say and I don't want to. I appreciate the passion of the Mudbugs fans...remember...I am one. This is not Nazi Germany and I'm not Hitler. I'm not going to pick a fight with a few fans over this and never intended to. I still am of the opinion that we can do better as fans and really get the place rockin' hard. I like the Rock 'n Roll II and couldn't imagine anything else playing after a goal. For the most part....I like things the way they are but just want to make things a little more entertaining for EVERYONE.
You know that I did not buy this team for the money. If I was in this for the money then I would have kept my money and let the team go away. I did this because I love the sport of hockey and think that the Mudbugs add to the quality of life in Shreveport-Bossier.
I am very excited about the possibilities of this season. We have 3 legal notebook pages full of ideas for on and off ice activities. I have received many positive comments and I appreciate the support of so many hardcore fans. I am always available for suggestions and I will consider all of them. People can shoot me an e-mail at powdercoat1@gmail.com if they have any ideas on how to improve the fan experience. I would ask those who have nothing but negative comments or profanity for me to please not bother. Obviously those people are only worried about themselves and could really care less about the future of the team. Remember...I made a promise that if we win the cup I will let you spend a day with the cup. Also I would like to announce that I will get a new Cup/Mudbugs tattoo if we win. I already have a sports themed tat that includes the Bugs. And finally....since I am challenging the fans to come up with a new and improved chant...the person with the best idea that actually gets used will receive 4 free season tickets (paid by me personally) anywhere available in the arena for this season.

well, folks, I am sharing it with all of you. This man really cares about Mudbugs Hockey and is trying to head in the right direction for all of us. Can we help this man out? I am on board.........I also want to thank all who gave their opinions regarding the chants/cheers. Some of you guys are a piece of work and I love you for it. I appreciate all suggestions, but I like mine better !! hahahahahahahaha..........Mama is stoked !! I hope everyone will join Tommy in helping him make Mudbugs Hockey better and a force to be reckoned with once again.

All together now........Kumbaya my Lord, Kumbaya. (no offense intended to anyone) ... I'm just hoping we can work together and support this team the way they are accustomed to being supported...... are ya with me?

Guys-there has GOT to be something more important to argue about other than a stupied chant with the word "suck" in it. Believe me most "children" already know the word. Everyone really needs to move on-too much energy being spent on "THE" chant.

For all the morality talk by some on this thread let's do this when school takes in this year have your kid or kids go to the teacher after receiving their first grade of the year and tell him/her that this grade sucks and see if you get a call from the principal.

thanks for the post Mama...puts a better perspective on what is wanted for the games...now the only gripe I have is those season tickets he wants to give away for the chant contest.....anywhere in the CTC!!!! uh sorry...109 row L seat 10 IS MINE!!!!!!!!!!!! but if you put em in 109 we'll help em get the chant going!!

First i'd like to say thanks mama for sharing. I like the suck/rock combo, esp the Rock part

Hopefully for all those that still want tradition will see that it's not that it's being "stopped" or not "allowed" anymore but rather the idea of having something maybe in addition to instead of just always the same word after everything.

Now, for all those who don't want that word that's why I started this thread in the first place. You don't want it, fine that's your choice but you have been given the opportunity to come up with something different/better and yet all the majority could still do it gripe with "I don't like the word, I'm not buying tics" etc-etc-etc.
Tommy has put the offer on the table. You don't like things the way they are, offer change. It's time to put up or shut up!

Irregardless of how anyone feels about the dreaded word, suck, our primary goal is to support MUDBUGS HOCKEY, right? Some do it one way, some do it another ... cheering our boyz on and giving them an edge on their opponent is MY goal. I have been told by in-laws of opposing goalies, parents of our players over the years, opposing goalies/players who have played for us and even a player or two who have joined in with us (fans) when they are on the bench and up on the second level next to the announcer's table doing the Sieve! You Suck! / Goalie! Sieve! chants because it pumped them up and the sound of all our voices in unison is UNBELIEVABLE. I am going to continue what I do and hope that whatever word / phrase you choose will join in and make it LOUD! (We can have a competition amongst ourselves of sorts.) Deafeningly so as I have been told by the father in law of an opposing goalie. The goalie was impressed with the level of passion we have for our team and that makes my heart well up with pride for each and every one of us fans. Sometimes after I start the We want mooooooooooooooooore goals cheer, I stop and listen and am amazed at the pride/support we are showing our team...it brings tears to my eyes....kudos to all of you who want to keep MUDBUGS HOCKEY alive and well in Shreveport-Bossier and for your help.

Thanks for the chant challenge MickeyBug. Even if we don't agree on the same word, we still agree that we need to support our team/organization/owners...right?

Tommy is interested in our suggestions/ opinions on how to improve the fan experience, please use this opportunity to let him know how you feel.

Cajun, I want you to contact him regarding 'battle of the high school bands' idea and when I see you, I want to run something else by you.

Thanks, folks. I have purple/teal/black/white and red running through my veins and passionate about Mudbugs Hockey is my middle name. I try to stay positive about situations even when morons (only my opinion of some lovlies) fall off the back of the truck and realize that everyone does indeed have their own opinion. I just can't stress enough that we damn near lost our beloved Mudbugs Hockey Team and am ever so grateful for a re-birth.

I have no ill feelings for John Madden for I appreciate what he did to keep the team here. Only those immediately involved know why he sold the team ... so damning him for what we 'think' he did is unfair. (in my opinion). Some of us think we know everything about what goes on when most of what we think we 'know' is hearsay or rumour and we make a$$e$ out of ourselves when we make the remarks we do. I am not going to get specific with a particular person or persons. I would just ask that you all reflect on what nearly happened to our team/organization and thank and praise whatever higher power you choose that we have a second chance.

Oh, we are still going to disagree on some issues, heck fire, there are waaaaaaaay too many personalities on his board not to and thank goodness we have the opportunity, but we need to keep our eyes on the common goal. I have made hundreds of friends over the years we have had Mudbugs Hockey and I cherish to this day each and every one. I have made some enemies, too. I pray for them as well.

I think the ideas coming forth this season and seasons to come for us fans will satisfy even the grandest nay sayer. I am proud to be a MUDBUGS HOCKEY FOURTH LINER!!! YEEEEEHAW !

the hard part will be getting the fans who don't come to the board, or the other some 1500 or more fans to change what they may have just learned. I think this something good but it will take time. I still like the "Mudbugs Live" instead of goalie sieve for at least the first game back. I know i will be saying that. I will also point to T. Scott when I say it. JMHO
