Justice should be blind. Common Sense: 1, Wise Latina: 0. For those of you who don't know, the Wise Latina upheld this decision in a lower court, and it took the Supreme Court to overturn it.

Because I have always said racism goes both ways. And people can be discriiminated against regardless of their color. It's just that white people have always seemed to just let things go; instead of pursuing things. Don't want to rock the boat. Well; I applaud these firefighters for standing up for themselves. .

These firefighters showed they put in the time and effort to pass, while others didn't. Yet, they were denied a promotion because others didnt work as hard, who happen to be black. Grinds my gears.... And they even denied a Latino man a promotion. Now blacks are the most important minority? Minorities have been given preference for advancement because they were not afforded the educational opportunities of white people and the playing field has to be leveled. I know people from the south don't like hearing that, but it is the truth.

But it always turns out to be about race. Thus the reason for NOT accepting & throwing away those test forms. That made it about race & discrimination. Ask yourself this question. Would they have thrown the test scores away if it had been the other way around??? So when people say to me that things have gotten better. I just laugh to keep from crying. Because racism is still alive & well. And discrimination usually isn't considered unless it's against the minority. Sad but true. Read about what's happening with The Jena Six. Before all that crap is over; Bell will be able to play football again & everything will be just fine for everyone involved. Except for the white guy that got beat up & his family that just seemed to have gotten lost in all the stupid court battles. And Al Sharpton having the nerve to say it isn't about race. Would he plan a huge march for a white victim??? I already know that answer. It's people like him & Jesse Jackson that keep racism alive. .

You cannot punish someone for someone else's crime to make up for it. What you are suggesting is just making the problem worse. Discriminating against white people now does make up for what happened to minorties. A wrong does not fix a wrong. I went to a fight the other night and a hockey game broke out. ~Rodney Dangerfield

He was afforded an education just like all of the rest. I'm not Pro-Obama but at least he had enough pride in himself to make it to the most important position in the United States of America. Pull that "poor because they are a minority crap" all you want. The two Hispanics, who are considered "minorities" were passed over too. I guess it comes down to pride in ones self. Ask Cajun, I'm sure he has seen it in his profession. Work and be rewarded. Be lazy and claim discrimination.

I was hoping someone would move it to where it belongs. It is something really to think about. But it didn't belong in the hockey forums. And chevyman, I think yours was a great post also. Because the bottom line is exactly about the pride you take in yourself. You can sit back & decide to live your life in gangs & you can also sit back & let others take care of you. Or you can do like Bill Cosby said himself. You can get off your lazy butt & get out of these gangs & get out there and go after all the things that have been made available for you to get a good education & make something of yourself. But whatever you do; it's time for brothers to quit killing brothers over nothing & way past time to quit blaming the white people for holding you down & keeping you oppressed. Because you are the only one that's holding yourself back. Cosby is a very good speaker. And it's funny how when we get to go listen to him speak; there is a packed house of blacks & whites. But most of them are older people & you can tell they are working class citizens. Funny how there are hardly NO young people at all there. No matter what color. And he speaks about that to the few that are there. He says they don't want to hear the truth. And he, himself will let you know in a second that young blacks think of him & actually call him an Uncle Tom. But he just says it's because they can't & don't want to hear the truth.
