I said before the playoffs started that we seemed to lack the intensity-even in some of the games we won. resting players for the playoffs did not really seem to work this year just as running them to the end did not work the season before-Scotty will figure it out.
Partying before the series-big mistake if indeed true. Like was said-if there is no game the next day-sure go hang out a little longer than usual, but be smart. A players body needs to be his temple. It earns him a check. When our baseball team travels we have no curfew, because our 10 yr olds are in it to win it. They actually tell us they are going to bed and drag us away from our beer to tuck them in (f course we go right back). Funny that some players watch what they eat, but will stay out late.
Scott is a coach-not a baby sitter. His job is to get the guys in a chance to win-not make nice with them and coddle them. By the same token he can not be-little them and expect them to play. Every coach has a style and word gets around-just like every player has a style and word gets around about them. What is said here on the board really hurts or helps very little-PLAYERS AND STAFFS TALK and who do you think those people listen to-the fans or those actually involved? Any player or coach who takes the word of any person on the message board is quite ignorant IMO. If a player does not like the coaching style-then look elsewhere-there are and iwill be plenty more skaters headed this way. Scotty demands things from his players and demands it the moment they sign on the dotted line-the players have to earn it. The players sure were not complainging (nor the fans) about Scott when we were reeling of consecutive wins. The complaining started when the players slacked off. If you want the pats on the back for doing good-then take the boots to the butt when you screw up.
