i personally am glad to see him gone. he was a great guy. but in his one season, our attendance dropped dramatically, our fan promotions were zilch, and the
on ice promotions were laughable at best. ive pointed this out several times before; at least madden recognized this

Chewy's resignation had nothing to do with attendance numbers, promotions, etc. He was not fired, he was not "let go", he resigned. I hate to see
him go, I think he did a tremendous job in the time he was here. I wish him all the best as he moves on. He's a great guy.
I am willing to cut the front office lots of slack for this past season as (1) almost all of them were brand new to the organization (and to sports) last fall. (2) It's hard to put "butts in the seats" when games are during the week rather than on the coveted weekend. (3) The price of gasoline is driving up the cost of everything else, people have to make choices and rein in their budgets. Bottom line for the lack of things some people are complaining about is cost and monies on hand.

well you know this board....there has to be every sort of spin put on everything that goes on....
I just hate to see Chewy leave....a good guy who was personable and felt like I could walk in his office any time with an idea....and I did on a few occasions...and he always took time for me....Gonna miss ya Chewy....ya did good.....hope nothing but the best for you in the future. |

A lot of statements made as to whether or not Chewy did his job well. I for one feel that he did. Any help I ever needed he was there, and if he couldn't
get it done he found out who could. You'll be missed Steve, hope you find what you're looking for down the road.
As for attendance levels being down most every fact has been mentioned except one....Nifty. Several have told me they didn't attend as many games because it was more financially feasible for them to catch it on the net rather than try to drive the distance or empty the bank account for their beloved bugs. |

If you want an event planner and sales mgr, then hire one. Don't hire a Hockey GM.

The "red flag" commentary is up on the Times.
I was wondering why it hasn't been mentioned this morning.....seems it was kind of a rehash of things awready known? Good Luck to a genuine good guy...Chewy. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ SUPPORT OUR TROOPS! |

-minor league hockey general managers are supposed to put butts in the seats and not players on the ice (thats muscutt's job). the duties of the gm at
this level are not the same as other levels of hockey(this isn't the nhl). the title of director of hockey operations means that muscutt finds the
players. we need and event planner and sales manager like toad said, not a hockey gm.
-the on ice promos did suck this season. the only thing that kept people in the seats during the intermission were the cheesy overplayed videos, which i thought were good the first 10 times i saw them. -the attendance didn't seem any different to me this year than in years past, i just think it was a lot more accurate than in the past. did anyone else notice that they didn't announce the attendance figures at over half the games??? i'm pretty sure that they only counted people in the seats and not tickets sold or given away. -i thought roy's article would shed more light on the situation after all the build up too it, but it seemed to me that it was just a column filler and was not up to his usual level of work. however, maybe chewy left to try and become league president. you never know what goes on behind closed doors around this league. -muscutt did say at the end of year fan night that next year we would be BIGGER, stronger, faster. lets see if he keeps that promise about being bigger. |
