For FUTURE reference...............well.........IMHO, we need shooters who can score...big, fast D-men who can protect them (and score as well)

but what do I know? Is there anybody out there? Or am I comfortably numb? NOT!!!!!

When I look at the early years of Mudbugs Hockey, we had great scorers ...... Burks, Nadsy, Neuf .... AND we had fast, big D-men....Buch, Sprotter, Barrett ... etc. There are players out there who can do the same......let's find 'em, sign...

it's over--let it go.
injuries can not be controlled.
I said before the playoffs started that we seemed to lack the intensity-even in some of the games we won. resting players for the playoffs did not really seem to work this year just as running them to the end did not work the season before-Scotty will figure it out.
Partying before the series-big mistake if indeed true. Like was said-if there is no game the next day-sure go hang out a little longer than usual, but be...

It is the same stuff over and over and over and over and over and over.

I keep taking a few days away from the board thinking some people will get tired of repeating the same old wah wah wah. Sometimes I forget who I'm dealing with

The night before the series started with TX Pegs and Coop were partying at the Horseshoe until after midnight.
I saw 'em there.
I spoke with 'em there.
I wished 'em there all the best in the playoffs.
And I was shocked that they were in there THE NIGHT BEFORE OUR PLAYOFFS STARTED.
Me: "How are we looking for the Brahmas series?"

The team needs to have enough D to withstand being beat on by 200lb forwards, or they need to be bigger. When the leading teams start with front lines as big or bigger than your D, it's going to be a long season with plenty of injuries.

I don't care what they do when they have no games the next day; but I think it's very un-professional of them to party the night before a game.

i definitely agree with that. i cant really fault a coach for not having curfews, he isnt paid to be the players babysitter. but i definitely agree that as professionals, the players really should know better, especially in the playoffs.

It really is PAST time to leave last season in the past. That's the reason I'm not saying anything on this. Just agreeing that it's time to put the past in the past. If the majority of the players leave; we just get some more. If they stay; that's fantastic. Either way. We have hockey & some cities don't. I still have much fun sitting in my seat cheering on my Bugs. Some teams haven't EVER won a Cup.

We played short to start the season and did so until York came in. The ones left standing were worn out.

hopefully this upcoming season there won't be any players out partying all hours of the night the night before a playoff game. since muscutt appararently treats the players so bad already, making them have a bed check every night wouldn't run too many more off. i'm sure there are some stalkers who wouldn't mind that role to help out the team.

True.
We had three of our top d-men on the sidelines.
And the three or so d-men who played did so with fairly significant physical problems.
The problem for us was that we were so banged up in our d-corps that we were forced to play through those injuries and overcome them.
We didn't do so.
And when March rolls around EVERY TEAM has injuries and is hurt.
The injuries and the players hurting was very unfortunate to us. Seemed as if the hockey gods were...

LSB--according to Scott, we had 5 of the 6 defensemen hurt pretty badly. Groin tears on 2---one bad back and the other 2 unknown.

In the early days, we outshot our opponenets. We KEPT the ppuck in the offensive zone. We had BIG, smart, skilled players. And we won. We had shooters with size and skill. We were tough. We had good goal tending. I have ALWAYS said, if you keep the puck in the offensive zone they just can't score from that far away. Sooner or later a shot is gonna make it in. More would make it in if we had more than one or two good shooters.

defense still wins championships.....defensive breakdowns will not....we have a kink in our armor that needs attention for sure...but it does not necessarliy mean we need to overhaul the whole thing....we keep finding ourselves in the same position/shape every year going into the playoffs... imho thats what needs to change first....we need to be going into the first round with an edge to our game and not in survival mode....and that is what happed to us these past two seasons....we didn't...

Defense does win championships, but the best defense is a good offense.

Like ato said, its execution that wins games and championships. Our team did not execute on either side of the ice in the playoffs. Much of that goes to the credit of the brahmas, but get over it already.

Man, at least a puppy quits whining after awhile....

I'd say that offense does. Offense scores goals, goals win games, which wins Championships. What am I missing?
